OYO GOVERNMENT UNVEILS HEALTH ACCOUNTABILITY FRAMEWORK FOR WORKERS

Oyo state government in collaboration with the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative, Breakthrough-Action Nigeria and other partners have rolled out a Health Accountability Framework to ensure transparency and guide for health workers.

Also, a health fact sheet, which is a comprehensive document that provides valuable insights into the state of health in Oyo state was presented.

Speaking at a ceremony, held at Kakanfo Inn, Ringroad Ibadan on Monday, the Oyo state Head of Service (HoS) OLUBUNMI ONI, who unveiled the first of its kind Accountability Framework, reiterated the state government’s commitment towards ensuring that the people of Oyo state have unhindered access to quality healthcare, while recognizing the importance of transparency and accountability to follow up set goals.

Mrs. ONI said the policy document is primarily designed to guide and provide directions for service providers and other health workers to improve performance while discharging their professional duties.

Sharing the state healthcare sector’s achievements, The Oyo state Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. OLUSOJI ADEYANJU disclosed that 210 primary Healthcare Centres have been completed while 90 are at different stages of completion.

He also appreciated the improvements done by the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in various state hospitals and health centres, which has helped improve the services provided to patients by health workers.

He highlighted the provision of CT scan, mammogram, renal dialysis machines, oxygen plants among other facilities.

The occasion was graced by Directors, Head of Hospitals, health workers from various Local Government Areas among others.

An Accountability Framework Implementation Committee was also inaugurated to ensure compliance in various health facilities in the state.
