OYO STATE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE REAFFIRM SYNERGY WITH NSCDC

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Augustine Padonu, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP A.A. Hamzat, on Tuesday, February 13, 2023.

In a statement signed by the CDPRO, NSCDC, Oyo State Command, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, The visit took place at the Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, and aimed to strengthen the existing relationship between the NSCDC and the Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State.

During the meeting, Commandant Padonu acknowledged the strong bond and collaboration that currently exists between the NSCDC and the Police in Oyo State. He expressed his appreciation for the joint efforts of the security chiefs in the state, emphasizing the importance of their collaboration in maintaining peace and security.

Commandant Padonu also highlighted the need for assistance from the Commissioner of Police in the area of training. Recognizing the significance of continuous professional development, he sought the support of the Police in enhancing the knowledge and skills of NSCDC personnel.

Furthermore, the Commandant called for the collaboration of the Police in combating illegal mining activities in the state. Illegal mining poses a threat to the environment and security, and the joint efforts of the NSCDC and the Police can effectively address this challenge.

In response, Commissioner CP A.A. Hamzat expressed his appreciation for the synergy among security agencies in Oyo State. He commended the existing collaboration and stated, “I have not seen such collaboration elsewhere.” The Commissioner emphasized the importance of fostering a harmonious working relationship, emphasizing that there should be no inferiority or superiority complexes among the security agencies.

CP Hamzat shared his insights on the four approaches that have been tried in a progressive order, namely the organizational approach, government approach, society approach, and essence approach. The essence approach integrates the other three approaches and incorporates the spiritual dimension, bringing a holistic perspective to security challenges.

Furthermore, the Commissioner assured Commandant Padonu of his commitment to assist in the area of training. He emphasized that training programs can serve as platforms to unite and bring officers of lower ranks together from both the NSCDC and the Police. Additionally, CP Hamzat proposed sport as another means of fostering collaboration and synergy among the lower ranks of the security agencies.

The visit concluded with an exchange of plaques as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation.

The State Commandant of NSCDC and the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State have demonstrated their dedication to fostering collaboration and enhancing security efforts in the state. Their commitment to training and unity among the personnel of both agencies will undoubtedly contribute to the overall safety and well-being of the people of Oyo State.
