In preparation for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir Celebration, Commandant Augustine Padonu of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oyo State Command has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of the public before, during and after the commemoration. To this end, he has ordered the deployment of 2,515 highly trained personnel of the Corps across the state.

Public Relations Officer, NSCDC, Oyo State Command, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, in a statement released today, said Commandant Padonu extends his warmest felicitations to all Muslim faithfuls in the State and wishes them a joyous Eid-el-Kabir Celebration.

Furthermore, he has directed all formations in the State to recognize the festival as a challenge and to intensify security efforts. These formations encompass the Area Commands, Divisional Commands, as well as specialized departments and units such as the Operations Department, Disaster Management Unit, the Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandalism Unit, Armed Squad, Special Female Squad and the Agro-Rangers.

The targets of the deployment will be praying grounds, religious houses, national assets and infrastructure, road intersections, recreation centers, malls, motor parks and terminals, markets, and other public areas.

The deployed personnel have been tasked with the critical responsibility of safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, a core mandate of the Corps. Their duties also include protecting lives and property, managing crowd control, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and maintaining a visible security presence. The NSCDC personnel will work in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure a comprehensive security coverage.

It is further stressed that unarmed and covert officers of the Corps will be on duty during the celebration.

The Commandant urges all residents of the State, as well as visitors, to celebrate with caution and remain vigilant of their surroundings. Any suspicious activity should be reported to NSCDC and other security agencies.
