OYO MINISTRY OF HEALTH CALLS FOR INTENSIFIED AWARENESS ON CANCER.

 

Oyo State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the coalition against cancer in Nigeria, Oyo state chapter has called for intensified awareness and early detection of cancer in commemoration of the world cancer day.

Speaking at a press conference with the theme: “Close the care gap”, Oyo state commissioner for Health, Dr. BODE LADIPO who was represented by the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, AYOOLA ADEBISI said the present administration has carried out free cervical cancer screening and lobectomy across the 33 local Government Areas of the state to curb the prevalent rate.

Also speaking on the importance of early detection of cancer especially in women, chairperson, Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, Oyo chapter, OMOLARA TAIWO, said cancer is preventable through early administration of vaccine and can also be treated.
