In a bid to further strengthen security in every community in Oyo state, the Nigeria civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Oyo state command on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 commissioned the corps’ division office, as well as the Foundation laying of the Division officer’s quarters at Iresa-pupa in Surulere Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, Oyo state NSCDC commandant CC MICHEAL ADARALEWA said the project, which was upgraded from an outpost was necessary to further curb crimes and strengthen security in the community.
The commandant also promised to deploy gallant personnel to kick start operations in the division but pleaded for the provision of logistics, so as to hasten the deployment of arms and ammunition to the division.
According to him, the swift response of himself, the Governor of Oyo state, Engineer SEYI MAKINDE and the state commissioner of Police, ADEBOWALE WILLIAMS doused the tension in Iganna community after a clash between the Fulani herders and residents occurred on Friday.
He said the state government was poised to see that criminals do not have any hiding place in Oyo state.
Meanwhile, also speaking at the ceremony, the Aresapa of Iresaapa, Oba MOSES OLAYIWOLA appreciated the effort of the command in boosting the security structure in the community, while calling on his chiefs and residents to work with the corps by providing information when necessary.
The ARESAPA disclosed that it was necessary to have enough security personnel in the community at all times, as traders troop in and out of its market.
The Oba also assured the provision of logistics for men of the corp to further aid their operations.
