NIDCOM CHAIRPERSON DABIRI-EREWA POSITIVE DESPITE DIASPORA VOTING BILL REJECTION

Chairperson, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA says the board will continue to lobby the National Assembly and see if there can be Diaspora voting come 2023.

Diaspora voting bill if it becomes a law, it will allow Nigerians register and vote in their country of residence during elections

DABIRI-EREWA while answering questions this morning concerning the recently rejected Diaspora voting says the aim of the bill will help the data and profile of the country among r nations across the globe.

Nigerian government’s records say Nigeria has about 17 million citizens in the Diaspora, even though the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs’ most recent estimate of Nigeria’s Diaspora is 1.7-million as of June 2020.
