ABACHA LOOT: NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SLAMS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ON HASTY DISBURSEMENT PLANS

The National Assembly has kicked against the decision of the Attorney-General of the Federation AGF signing the repatriation and disbursement of the just recovered Abacha loot by the American government.

The United States (US) government had on Tuesday signed an agreement to repatriate $23 million dollars looted by a former military head of state General SANI ABACHA to Nigeria with President MUHAMMADU BUHARI approving the recovered loot to fund the completion of the Abuja-Kano road, Lagos-Ibadan expressway and the Second Niger Bridge.

Speaking on this development, Deputy Chairman, House Anti-Corruption Committee DACHUG BAGOS says the hasty decision by the federal government to disburse the fund on infrastructure was wrong and unconstitutional.

BAGOS reiterated that the National Assembly will revisit the Abacha loot when it returns from recess by 20th of September.
